『The Burglars from the Albarn Empire is…』(Junou)

 

Junou, the commander of the Ascham territory’s army spat out as he heard about the recent news.
The Imperial Army suddenly invaded, trampled the Viscountess Ascham’s land facing the border.
They will soon come here to capture Ascham’s main town.

Junou didn’t think of those invaders as an army, as they didn’t declare war and invaded like the burglars.
They are just a burglar group.
That name was enough for them.

Although the Ascham main town had more soldiers than other colonial territories, even the lord rank is just Viscount, it’s close to the border, they have an important mission to protect the border of Brandel Kingdom.

However, several years ago, it was weakened.

 

『Damn, that rotten son…』(Junou)

 

Yes, it was caused by one of the Ascham family, a fellow son in law who married lady Mebel and went into the family.
And then the late predecessor Viscount, lady Mebel were attacked by bandits…

But Junou and most of the people didn’t believe it was really caused by bandits…
After the late predecessor Viscount and lady Mebel’s death, that damn son brought in a cheating partner, a secret child into the mansion and reduced the money for the military for their luxury life.

Thanks to that, both the number of soldiers, the equipment and many other things have been reduced.

 

Fortunately, when that damn son planned to hijack the noble title and tried to abolish young lady Adel, they don’t have the Ascham family’s blood.
When the wrongdoer was exposed, they were all executed.
And to protect the legitimate successor, young lady Adel, until she gets back to manage the territory, His Majesty the King has dispatched a substitute to manage the territory.
However, even with the reinforcement army’s strength, it’s still weaker than the original army from the past year.

Although they have part of the Royal Army, the Ascham’s army was still no match for the powerful armies of the empire.
At best, they can only earn a little time.
Yes, time earning until the main army of the Kingdom and reinforcements from each territory arrive.

…In other words, this place will be sacrificed and become a frontline to battle with the Empire.
And even if the Kingdom’s counter-attack strategy succeeded, this land would still become a battlefield twice, this time and the counterattack time.
This land would be robbed of food and valuable things while being occupied by the enemy.
There will be no future for the countryside where deceased people, orphans, and widows overflowed.

Yes, Junou, who was picked up by the predecessor Ascham family owner, Adel’s grandfather, and climbed from an orphan to the commander of the Ascham’s military force.
He devoted everything for the predecessor lord and his daughter, Lady Mebel. Everything, his own Life, and soul…

But then, he couldn’t do anything and let the most two important people of his life die,
Without proof, he couldn’t condemn the damn son-in-law.
Even when they laid their hands on Lady Mebel’s daughter, young Lady Adel, he couldn’t even help.
And at times he was planning a rebel to protect young lady Adel, he even was willing to sacrifice his life for it, but he was late and could not do anything again.

In the end, young lady Adel was lost.

  17. To not kill even in this situation, how naive can you be? I’m sure they will get by somehow by using Mile’s “Dues Ex Machina” since this is a PG story but considering this is a war with people dying I think they should expect to get their hands dirty.

    • “Deus Ex Machina” means “god from the machine”

      Which is true for Mile = Goddess using nano-machines here.

      Mile is “average” , she isn’t as weak as Kaoru or Mitsuha to dirty her hands on anything.

      FUNA sensei make Kaoru and Mitsuha series to dismiss the non-killing on Mile.

      If you expected a chapter where Mile is weak enough to dirty her hands once, you will die from old age before reaching that chapter. (Never happen)

      If we consider that 1 ancient dragon and easily destroy a country.
      Mile is strong enough to QQ 3 of them at once.

      Let’s alone harming Mile, I don’t think full army can even harm her comrades if she put up her barrier on them.

  23. I have a feeling that i can guess how will this novel end. I guess you could say i have a theory. Let’s examine what we know about this world. It seems that a very advanced civilization used to live here but then it got wiped out essentially by the world ending.

    The world seems to end in cycles: once a civilization gets too advanced, the world ends. We know this from the nanomachines who seem to essentially know everything about this world and can’t be destroyed by anything except for radiation. Now, let’s see what happens at the beginning of the story: Misato/Mile saves a young girl who was supposed to die in a car accident and who would later go on to invent interstellar travel.

    I have a feeling that Mile might not have really reincarnated into another world but rather into the same world, just many years later. But why reincarnate her into the same world? Well, to stop the cycle. Mile has shown that she can take actions that even the gods can’t predict and if this really is the same world, that would mean Mile essentially temporarily broke the cycle and caused a civilization to advance further than it was really supposed to. The civilization might be gone now, but they have left a very important relic – the nanomachines.

    If this is true then it would also explain why Mile got her “average” powers instead of actually being average – the god wants her to break the cycle again. She got “average” powers because this was the only way they could do it while still respecting Mile’s wish to be average.

    Or maybe i’m just overthinking some details that appeared in the first 2 chapters

      This world is an Isekai, totally not Earth.
      Why this world always get destroy?
      Because the human always greedy, they repeat summon “Genesis Monster” when they advanced enough, and it’s the “Genesis Monster” who kill this world.

      Nano-machines only afraid of Portal to another world spell, which has a chance to summon the “Genesis Monsters” to destroy the humanlity again.

      Spoiler:

      “Genesis Monster” is super strong, humans of this world STAND NO CHANCE at all, not even 100 hunters can kill 1 “Genesis Monster”
      Red Oath must get serious to kill them.
      Mile must use 1% of her power to kill them, not 1/7800 like usual.

        • When Mile got serious, 1 acient Dragon will take 1 hit to KO.
          Maybe you don’t know but Multiply power by 3.24 times is really a big deal.
          Just imaging a 162kg boxer vs a 50kg boxer, we don’t need to say how Overpower the 162kg Boxer is.

          As we can see, Mile = 7800 normal people can fight with 1 Ancient Dragon completely unharm. However, 2 Phase Cannon (Strongest Attack) can only hurt the Ancient Dragon.
          But she was put back by 3 Ancient Dragons at the same time.

          But when she was serious 7800×3.24 =25272 times of a normal human.
          She can 1 hit KO the Ancient Dragon with 1 simple lighting spell.

      • Wouldn’t that be a plothole then? Because it would leave a question as to why was the 1st civilization destroyed. It was stated that the 1st civilization coexisted with the ancient dragons who have power similar to Mile’s and could easily destroy them. And even if the ancient dragons didn’t help, the people had rank 10 authority nanomachines (considering they created them) so if Red Oath can fight with the monster then the 1st civilization could definitelly defeat it

          Or the 1st civilization was destroyed by something else.

        • Well, Ancient Dragon is just a few individuals, it took hundereds of years to give birth 1 Ancient Dragon, they can’t stop the wave of too many monsters from the inside (not outside).
          Just like a few military heroes can’t stop the wave of Zombie Outbreak from the city.
          But Ancient Dragon is still strong so their race didn’t go extinct.

          People might have rank 10 Authority but they were killed on site with the surprise monster becaue they were still human being, not Mithril body like Mile.
          As you can see, the USA president have enough Authority to bring the Earth back to the stone-age but 1 bullet still enough to kill him.

          And what Red Oath encounter is still lower rank “Genesis Orc” but they are as strong as “Normal Orge” with “steel body” that no sword can harm (Except Maevis True Godspeed Sword and Mile use 1% of her strength)
          Magic like Rena and Pauline are still useful.

          Unless there was a “Genesis Ancient Dragon”, nothing can be a worthy opposenent for Mile.
          And of course “Genesis Ancient Dragon” can’t go through the TINY Portal gate the humans nowaday can summon.

While it would be a strech to relize the girl with silver hair matching the prior lord’s daughter is said lord’s daughter’s daughter in desperation humans make really stupid decisions, so it will be justifiied if the question of are you the scucessor is never asked, but it is still a hidining your identity behind a thing that does not actually hide recongnizable features, Adel could have Nano san make the masks have appearnce distorcion or something though. Also while not sending aid would make sense for most lords in the area, That count that was friends with Adel’s mother does have a reason if he wanted to being that is the territory of a Missing close friend that he failed, protecting untill the scessor is found wouldn’t be out side the realm of reason. Misato will probably not stay anyways and the empire will feel the wath of Mile. I know I switched between names, but they are all correct.
