I was only a bit strong thanks to Micro, the power of my mind, and the specially made sword. I was overly confident in my power and headed right in the middle of the enemies.
Because I was thinking of solo battle without cooperating with my friends} (Maevis’ thought)

 

It seemed to be a long time, but it was actually very short.
If she really has time to remind of the old memories, why not use that time to avoid the Orcs’ attacks?
Actually, only the image of the memory flowing in her brain is getting super-accelerated

And lastly, Mareiwen cast magic to stall the Orcs.

Everyone prioritized attacking the Orcs who attacked Maevis over protecting themselves, so they were injured by the attacks from Orcs they were fighting against. Even though they are injured, they can continue to fight.
The pain is just a signal to let you know your body is in a dangerous state.
But they are like 『Well, we already understood that! We can just ignore it. We can’t afford to stop fighting in the midst of battle because our body is in danger.』

Ratol is too close to the Orcs and is forced to move in between the Orcs and Maevis, so he is now in a bad position and can’t swing his sword.
After pulling out the sword from the body of the Orc, he uses the handle of the sword to hit the Orc in the eyes and when the Orc is stunned, he pressed the blade in its neck.
Even if it’s not a sharp blade like the Japanese sword, when pressing like that, it still can cut deep into the Orc’s neck to kill it.

This is the escort mission, the client’s life is the first priority.

Yes, it was the swordsman Ratol, who stood in between Maevis and the Orc to protect her, thus he got hit several times from the Orcs.
Either it was Adrenaline or dopamine or whatever it may be, he could fight relatively calmly until now. But he received some attacks from the Orcs. Even if he wore armor, he is just a human being.
The moment the fight is over and the danger is gone, he feels relaxed then all the pain and burden come at once.

For a moment, Mile wanted to complain but she decided to do it later.

Maevis is the one with the most serious injury, so Mile will handle her treatment.

Elves are usually good at healing magic, so probably the person who gets healed by Rena will be the most unfortunate one.

  10. Wait … Maevis can’t fight off 4-5 orcs alone ? I thought she was WAYYYY stronger ^^’ (dying to orcs when you could hurt and helped repel a dragon would be pretty lame – -)

  11. And here I was expecting Mile to go ballistics and send beams to incinerate the heads of the orcs, or quickly turn all of them into fried bacon, but the guys in Blue Meteor had to get at least a chance to redeem themselves.

    Oh god this annoy me more than it should but, european sword are not blunt and they definitely don’t have less cutting power than japanese sword, that’s even the contrary european sword that were thrust oriented were capable of cutting as good as a katana, and an european sword specialized in cutting well oh boy they were outperforming katana by far

      They use GREAT SWORD or a behead machine.

      European sword is VERY DURABLE but isn’t sharp.
      Japanese sword (Katana) is very fragile just like glass but very sharp.
      Even 10 Japanese sword clash with 1 European sword, all of Katana will be broken.

      Did you ever play any European Video Game?
      European Sword requires STRENGTH to equip.
      While Katana requires DEXTERITY to equip.

      Did you play the game names League of Legend?
      Yasuo (Katana) or Leona (European Sword) have more base damage?

      • Actually… Japanese swords can’t behead people in normal circumstances, they are just swords, and european swords are just as sharp in most cases… yes, katanas aren’t as powerful as we think, nor swords in general, I mean swords and katanas were actually side arms

        Also there were european swords meant for beheading people, not in battle but in executions, they were pretty normal swords, just bigger (meant to be used with two hands) and flat on the tip

        About katanas, they were pretty neat, I mean finding a way to make a good blade out of the poor metal they had there… but nothing that amazing, beautiful blades and finishing though

        I am basing this on history and a few experiments I’ve seen about it, games, anime and movies have lots of misinformation about the theme unfortunately

      I have played a lot of western game.
      I have watched a lot of Holywood Movie.
      None of European Sword is good at cutting.

      I repeat.
      European Swords are very durable, they can clash with each other. You can slash into shield or armor. European Swords aren’t blunt but they aren’t sharp either. They can cut anything but they can’t cut it into half.
      If you want to compare, they are strong like military knife while japanese swords are weak like surgery knife.

      Japanese Swords are very fragile, they can’t clash with even other Japanese Sword. Their blade will be chipped right away. Slash it into a shield or armor and it will be chipped right away. They can cut any soft thing into half.

      • Sorry for the double comment

        But that’s the problem pop culture get european sword horribly wrong, even more when they compare it to katana. Because the katana is more cutting oriented people assumeit is better at cutting that european longsword, that were not extremely specialized blade.

        But the thing is that sadly japanese smithing and forging technolgie was inferior to european smithing and forging technology, European had blast furnace which allowed them to have steel with less impurities, and they used oil for the heat treatment metal, which allowed them to tempered the blade instead of simply hardening, making it way more resistant.

        Those two technique allowed them to make thinner sword that are not brittle, and this increase a lot the cutting power of sword.

        Basically the less energy the sword need to cut through a material the more cutting power it have, and the two main factor that affect the cutting power is edge angle (which is related to blade width and blade thickness) and blade thickness(with equal edgle angle the thinner sword still cut better).

        And that’s the problem with katana because of the technology they are extremely thick generally 7/8 mm at the base of the blade and 4.5/5mm at the tip of the blade, in comparison a general longsword is around 5/6mm at the base of the blade and 3/4 mm at the tip of the blade.

        because of that blade thickness differences you can have an european longsword not specialized in cutting that cut better than a katana,
        and when you compare katana to european cutting oriented european sword like falchion and messer type 1 and 2 on the elmslie typology (it’s the typology for single edge european sword most of them were specialized for cutting and are are rarely represented in film and video games, there is even some type in that typology that look like katana), it is even worse, some of those had a blade thickness of 1.2 mm at the tip of the blade, compared to those sword the katana look like club with its thickness.

        • But as you can see, Ratol is too close to the Orc now (he stabbed the Orc just before)
          He is in a bad position and can’t swing his sword. That’s why he my press it to cut deep. He need more energy in his sword than a katana in this case and that’s all.

          I never look down on European Sword in the first place. After all, the best sword, Ex Calibur is an European Sword. All RPG game I play, I use European Sword.

  20. If he can’t swing he has less energy to transfer to cut, it doesn’t increase the amount of energy he need to make a cut, and without knowing the blade geometry we cannot say for sure which is sharper his sword or a katana,

    but the thing si that the way it is worded it imply that european sword are less sharp than japanese (it is not even the first time it is implied in the novel either i think it was also implied during the hunter school ark when they talked about Maevis sword) , and that’s my problem this is completely false european sword weren’t less sharp by katana, european sword sword have a large spectrum of of blade geometry, yes some are less sharp than katana but they also had a lot of sword that are definitely sharper than katana (the katana isn’t even the sharpest japanese sword, its ancestor the tachi is way sharper but was ultimately replaced because it is too brittle against armor), that’s why this genralization is wrong. And what’s annoying is that this genralization is everywhere in japanese isekai, in european fantasy, in movies etc, if author could do research and stop spreading misinformation like people in the medieval era never washed, european sword were blunt, a knight can’t get up if he fall with his armor, that would be great.

      have you ever cut the meat?
      You must “Press” the knife in order to cut the meat no matter how sharp the knife is, right?
      But if you can “swing” your butcher knife, you don’t need to “press”, right?
      And if you have a surgery knife, you can cut meat without “press” or “swing”, right?

      I heard that Japanese Swords can cut Daikon (Raddish) into half and put it back like nothing.

      PS: It’s just some random knowledge, so I be wrong.

      Anyway, whenever I heard of an European sword, my imagine is a strong and powerful sword.
      While Japanese sword is a fragile and sharper sword.

      By the way, you can blame us to get that so-called “misinformation” because we get it from Western Video game, fantasy, movies (not japanese one)
      I play the game series name “1602AD, 1503, 1404, etc”,
      the public bath is something for NOBLE and HIGH GRADE CITIZEN.

  23. btw i have heard the reason why katanas cut better has to do with how the edge is made not with sharper swords or anything like that. (yes sharper swords do cut better but the sharper the blade the more easily the sharpness is lost from what ive heard (the edge is worn away)(also this one is my opinion but i dont think they had very sharp swords back then at least compared to what we think is sharp today because of multiple reasons (techniques, technology, care, wear and tear, etc)) Wester swordsare are similar to

    but less flat and more angled so they have to push material outwards more instead of the katanas that are similar to

    but more angled so they kinda glide through the material instead of pushing through it like western swords do. This knowledge comes from a show called modern marvels. (educational show that was on discovery channel once on comcast)

    Also from what I have heard from interviews from actual people who make katanas and swords they say that katanas making techniques were so good that eve modern techniques cannot make them better (whcih cannot be said of wester swords)
