I haven’t read the novel but I’m getting the impression that protecting the young girls like this happened after the idiots in her past life back stabbed her. Their leaders probably realized after getting that fake story from those idiots that even if the saint is super powerful, she can also die just as easily as everyone else. So they went super protective of their saints.
